Armed Private Security Basic Training

Armed Private Security Basic Training is for candidates who want to start in the private security profession as armed officers. Trainees who complete the programme, which totals 120 teaching hours, become eligible to sit the official private security exam; those who pass can apply for the private security ID card. The training is delivered by Çamlıca Özel Güvenlik Eğitim Kurumu.

Requirements for Private Security Officers

Article 10 of Law No. 5188 on Private Security Services sets the following general requirements for private security officers:

  • Be a citizen of the Republic of Türkiye
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have completed at least eight-year primary education or lower secondary school for unarmed duty, or at least high school or an equivalent school for armed duty
  • Have no physical or mental illness or disability that could prevent you from performing the duty
  • Have no conviction for the offences listed in the Law, and have a positive security investigation result

For candidates who want to work unarmed, there is the Unarmed Private Security Basic Training, which totals 100 teaching hours. Officers with unarmed status can move to armed status through the Firearms (Conversion) Training, provided they meet the requirements for armed duty.

Exam, ID Card and Renewal

For the exam calendar, see our Exams page. Candidates who pass the exam can apply for the private security ID card; the application steps are explained on our ID Card Procedures page. Official fees for 2026: private security ID card fee 550 TL, private security licence fee (ruhsat harcı) 8,568 TL.

The private security ID card is valid for 5 years. To renew the card, you must complete the Armed Private Security Renewal Training before it expires. Armed officers already in service can also join our Private Security In-Service Firearms Training to keep their shooting skills current.
